about

"Six Circles: in memorium Alfred Schnittke", is a structured improvisation with composed interludes created by composer/guitarist Jonathon Grasse in 1998. Decisive Instant, a Los Angeles-based ensemble, is here directed by the late Robert Leng, with Jeff Schwartz, and Charles Sharp (see additional performers below). Grasse conducted and cued sections in this performance. The work has also been performed and recorded by Surrealestate (2000).
Soloists initiate each of the circle events, followed by a second voice (duet), a tutti section (the circle proper), and an interlude.
Special thanks to Jeff Schwartz and Charles Sharp.
This Bandcamp release is dedicated to the memory of Robert Leng.
